CIVIL Process

The term "serve" means to provide notice; in other words, everyone has the right to "due process" under the law. It is critical that everyone involved in a civil case is provided with proper notice of every paper filed in that case. 


The Martin County Sheriff's Office can serve papers in civil processes including but not limited to serving papers to individuals due to eviction, civil judgements and divorce.


It normally takes 3-5 days for the Martin County Sheriff's Office to serve papers to an individual or business. An individual can be served by documents placed in the mail or served directly in person at the individual's home of work address.


Please Note:

  • The charge for Civil Process filed in Martin County is $28 (payable to the Martin County Clerk’s Office)
  • There is an out of state service fee of $60 (payable to the to the Martin County Sheriff's Office)
